Pre-Orientation Advising for New Students

Welcome to Mason! As a new transfer student, orientation is an important first step in your transition to the university.

  • All new students are required to attend Orientation. If you have not done so already, please register as soon as possible.
  • After you register for Orientation, you are required to complete Patriot Preview Virtual Modules.
  • Once you complete the modules, you will be provided with a certificate of completion. That certificate is your ticket to Pre-Orientation Advising. During pre-orientation advising, you will meet with your assigned academic advisor and together you will review your transfer credits, the remaining classes you need to take at Mason, and develop a plan for your upcoming classes. It’s important to email your certificate of completion to your advisor so they can provide you with instructions on how to schedule an appointment.
Who Is My Assigned Academic Advisor?
When Does Pre-Orientation Advising Begin?
  • For Spring start: November 15th
  • For Fall start: May 1st
What Else Do I Need To Know?

If you applied to Mason before your AAS degree was earned, you will need to send an updated, official transcript to Mason after your degree is conferred by your community college. If you are still taking courses, do NOT send an updated transcript until both your final grades are posted and your degree is conferred. If you send an updated transcript before your AAS is earned, then you will need to send another transcript again later.

Remember: Your AAS must be completed before your first day of classes at Mason, and you must send us your AAS transcript by the end of your first Mason semester.
